Dan Thies Lights Fire Under Google for Proxy Hijacking

I've discussed Google proxy hijacking many times before in this very blog, even joked about it.

Now Dan Thies has done an excellent post about the problem appropriately entitled "Google Proxy Hacking: How A Third Party Can Remove Your Site From Google SERPs".

Dan's post is complete with visual aids for those having trouble grasping how it works and even links to some sites with PHP code to help alleviate the problem.

Read a detailed account of just how easily it is to have the deadly combination of Google and a proxy server turn your website's ranking in Google literally upside down as you get a duplicate content penalty for your own pages, and worse!

Run, do not walk, to read Dan's post and tell all your friends as this information could save many websites from a sudden and untimely demise in Google.

Great read Bill as per usuall.
I feel we are just starting to scratch the surface of whats really going on...which you have known for a long time and ahead of the pack.
My experience recently..i had deleted websites without informing the engines..then after a year i had the urge to put the site back up again.
Lo and behold..i get searches in my backoffice/stats, such as "upskirt, viagra, pills etc etc.
The cunts even hijack dead links/quickly showing then alive.. let alone live ones.

Thanks Bill. I'm going to be adding the script to my collection. That will make 3 scripts that are running. Let's call this last script "If Vermin Does Get Past" what I'm currently using I now have one more layer of defence :).

Think in layers people. Of all the free scripts out there, not one does it all.

But..but...but Matt Cutts says there is no dupe content "filter". And the "supplemental" results are just low PR pages. As usual, you guys are just tin-foil-hat conspiracy theorists vying for attention.

Just make good content. That's all it takes, just make good content and Google will love you.

Hey Bill, I'm crawling thru the Net since hours, and can't find solution for automated defence against all this crap. I'm monetizing my website to cover medical bills, and without this income it would be drama. I got german version of my website, and they attacked it mostly. I hoped that crawlwall software will be avaiable, but waiting long months and no updates from them.
